The Role of the Church in the Society
Churches are spread all over the countries of the world. The church has a great influence in the society in so many ways. Many churches have been built by different organizations and individuals across the country in the recent past. These churches use technology use various means to pass their messages across the ends of the world. Church has become a place of entertainment due to the expensive multimedia devices that are used in praise and worship. The number of people attending church has also increased due to the messages of empowerment that are offered in there which leave people feeling good and motivated. Below are a few roles that the church performs in the society.
The church helps to meet the needs of the people be it spiritual, physical or emotional. The world has become a very competitive place and at the end of the week people need to be empowered in various ways so that they can face the upcoming week. Families are experiencing more challenges where children are growing up in broken homes, and they need to be supported by institutions such as the church. Moreover, due to financial strain, many believers find themselves in debt, and they need the help of the church to overcome such problems. The church is among charitable organizations and hence it can pull its resources to help its members. Such measures can even be implemented into the community which is a larger part of the church, and we have seen Rick VanWagner do during charity events held by his church.
The political field can benefit greatly from the influence of the church. This religious institution influences activities such as voting and campaigns. It is common knowledge that most people vote depending on their religious beliefs and the church plays a very big role in this. The issue of marriage has become a common talk among Americans. The church has been firm in its belief that marriage should be between two adults of different genders. This has been an issue where believers in the church have been forced to vote against such laws due to their belief in the Bible against homosexuality.
The church has a responsibility in welcoming people from all walks of life. It is only natural to want to be accepted in society and given special treatment sometimes. There is an increase in homeless people in the society who need to be given shelter, food, and clothing. As a result, the church should help such people and accommodate them within the church. Additionally, the church can hire such people to carry out simple tasks around the church such as cutting grass.
